Sound Masking Systems
Open floor plans trade walls for distraction. Sound masking raises the background level just enough that nearby conversations stop being intelligible, and nobody notices the system is running.
Sound masking is not white noise turned up. It's a shaped spectrum spread evenly across a space so speech from a few desks away blends into the background instead of pulling your attention off your work.
We lay emitters out on a grid suited to the ceiling, cable and zone them, then tune the system in the finished space. Done properly, staff notice fewer distractions and private conversations stay private.

Ramp it in, don't switch it on
Masking works best when nobody notices it. Levels usually come up gradually over several days so people acclimate. A system commissioned at full level on day one is the one that generates complaints, even when the spectrum is correct.
Plenum vs. direct-field emitters
Plenum emitters fire up into the deck and let the ceiling diffuse the sound, which works well over a standard tile grid. Open plans, hard decks, and high ceilings usually need direct-field emitters aimed down, since there's no plenum to diffuse through.
